Overview

In the light of JCAR project - A4I and following the interest of Prof. Hany Sewilam, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, in developing the water distribution system and in line with the directives of Dr. Sherif Mohamady, the NWRC president, for ongoing coordination with the Irrigation Service and the Planning Sector on this matter, and referring to the coordination meeting held at the NWRC on Thursday, February 15, 2024, an online meeting was held with Dr. Ezz El Din Kamel - Assistant Minister for Irrigation Facilities, Eng. Nabil Nasif Faragallah - Head of the Central Administration for Water Distribution, Eng. Amal Jasser - General Manager of the Information Center at the Planning Sector, Dr. Heba Refai, Eng. Ibtisam Hassan Mohamed, Eng. Hossam El Nagar in the Planning Sector, Dr. Abdel Hamid Khater - Technical Office of NWRC President, and Dr. Ahmed Samir from the Survey Research Institute.
Eng. Hossam El Nagar from the Planning Sector gived a presentation on the RIBASIM program, which calculates the required water quantities for the main canals nationwide based on cultivated areas, crop composition, climatic conditions, and soil quality and salinity.
Dr. Ahmed Samir discussed the use of modern technology to calculate crop compositions through satellite images.
Dr. Ezz El Din Kamel emphasized the need to link the outputs of the RIBASIM program from the A4I JCAR project with the outputs of this study's research project and the Discharge Distribution research project to integrate the three projects.
A coordination meeting will be held in the Planning Sector to present the data available from the sector to start work on it by the research team, which will prepare crop composition maps.
