Overview

 

 

A fruitful meeting has been held between the Mechanics and Electricity Department MED and one of JCAR projects (Performance Enhancement of Pump Stations for Irrigation and Drainage project (PEPSI)) project team. During the meeting at the Deltares office in Delft (the Netherlands), the progress on the three components of the PEPSI project was discussed and agreements were made on coming activities such as joint meetings and the Cairo Water Week.

 

Next to engineering meetings, site visits were organized so that the Egyptian partners could become familiar with the Dutch context of pumps and pumping stations. A site visit was conducted to the Dutch waterboard Waternet where an explanation was given on the water cycle and operational philosophy of the pumping stations in Amsterdam. After this, a pump manufacturer was visited where the production process of pumps was witnessed. Both site visits gave inspiration for further use in the PEPSI project.
