Overview

As part of the A4I project, a Water User Association (WUA) workshop was held on September 4, 2024, in Kafr El Sheikh. This event brought together WUA members and leaders to discuss the challenges farmers face in adopting and implementing irrigation modernization methods.

The workshop, which included approximately 60 WUA members and representatives and about 15 SWERI representatives, focused on the role and effectiveness of WUAs in resolving these issues and how varying access to WUAs impacts farmers.

The A4I project is committed to organizing stakeholder events to connect diverse actors in Egyptian agriculture and irrigation. This workshop exemplified the project's living lab approach, fostering 'co-innovation' through collaborative, participatory, and systemic research.

The emphasis on stakeholder engagement and dialogue was central to creating a space for meaningful collaboration and problem-solving.
